Running For Position 4

Albert J. Bledsoe grew up in Houston and Corpus Christi, Texas.  He graduated from Corpus Christi Academy prior to attending the University of Oklahoma.  There, he played football for the Sooners.  In 1966, Al graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Corpus Christi, now Texas A&M at Corpus Christi. His wife Cecilia Cepeda-Bledsoe, was a Bilingual Educator for 30 years in PISD and is teaching ESL at San Jacinto Community College.

His daughter is currently teaching at PISD with her Kinesiology degree.
I PLAN TO…
·      Address the urgent needs for Special Education students
·      Expand current programs and opportunities
·      Prepare students for jobs post-graduation and roles that contribute back to our community
·      Ensure students receive quality special ed curriculum
·      Work towards funding equity across Pasadena ISD

 

Community Involvement and Recognition

​

Al is involved in the community and has received distinguished recognitions. He was the first recipient of the Leaders in Learning Award from PISD in 2014.

His other community activities and recognition are:  â€‹

·      Member and Greeter of Grace Community Church

·      Member of Mentoring Men Association through Grace Community Church

·      Member of the Pasadena Association of Educational Office Personnel

·      Senior Olympic Games athlete

·      HOA Board Member

·      Elementary School Educational Speaker

·      1st African American to receive the AD+ ALTARE+ DEI MEDAL (the highest accomplishment award by The Catholic Church for Boy Scouts in the US)

·      Actively learning Spanish with his personal Spanish teacher, his wife, Cecilia

·     Meetings with citizens of the ITC explosion in 2019

·      Community meetings at Baker-Ripley Community center

 

Career 

​

He is a member of the Houston Inventors Association, previously collaborating with NASA on a patented invention for bike safety in 1995.  He has worked on 3 inventions. He was a high-achieving All-State Insurance Agent for 34 years. He received the following awards on several occasions for his accomplishments on the job- 1.  Life Millionaire 2. Conference of Champions and 3. Honor Ring.   He retired from his career in Insurance in 1999.  After 5 years of retirement, he found a new calling- to make a difference in the lives of our students and specializing in SPECIAL EDUCATION. He recently retired from Pasadena ISD after 16 years as a Paraprofessional Educator to run for PISD School Board.  He keeps in shape by jogging and playing tennis with his daughter.

 

Mission

​

His passion to make an impact on students is evident in 16 years of service for Pasadena ISD. Al served as a Special Education and Outcome-based Measures Educating Growing Adults (OMEGA) employee. His mission is to help students reach their highest potential in life.
